Pretending to be a servant

Today at Lanhydrock House I was on duty in the kitchens. I wore my costume of long black dress and white apron and cap. For some reason when I'm wearing this costume I get my photo taken far more often than when I'm poshed up.

Some children saw me and got very excited. 'A servant, Mummy, look, a servant! Are you a real servant?' they asked me. When I told them I was just pretending, they looked upset. Maybe I should have lied.
